Of course there’s no room for the sense of smell in betting, but there’s always room for a sixth sense. But try to know the difference between what you feel will be the right outcome, which will usually come more from a collection of information you’ve gathered than from the “gut”, and the outcome you hope will happen. All betting tips should start with the golden rule – detach yourself from what you’re betting on.
And if you feel you can’t emotionally detach yourself from any given sport you feel you know the most about, then change sport. For example, I have a self imposed ban on all football betting because it’s the sport I’ve followed since I was a child and played semi-professionally, so there’s no way I can get enough emotional distance to make an informed decision.
But if you can, then go for it. Football is the best sport for gut-feeling bets I know. There’s so much passion in the game you can taste it, and so often passion wins matches. If you have good instincts, they’ll probably apply to football and work like a charm. Do make sure you have sufficient knowledge of the game, and I mean more than just knowing the rules and which players are good. A football team is exactly that, a team, and not a collection of star players. Keep that in mind and remember that what wins games is the overall strengths of a team that plays well together, and you’ll be making money in no time.
